In 2021, we began the accompaniment of five families of the Nutrition Program through one of the Centers of the Civil Association Haciendo Camino in the town of Añatuya, Santiago del Estero.
A previously conducted research, where the target population was pregnant women and children from 0 to 24 months of age, came to the conclusion that at the time of performing a nutritional intervention it is necessary to take into account the period from conception to 2 years of life of the child. If undernutrition occurs during this stage, the child’s human capital is affected and infant mortality increases.
Under this report, the aforementioned nutritional intervention was carried out with specialized professionals, with the objective of improving the quality of life of children in the region.
These children arrived at the Center with severe malnutrition problems and low height, where they were nutritionally diagnosed and a specific treatment was established for each case. In turn, each family was assigned a social worker to accompany them; an early stimulation clinic for the child and the mother; health education talks; trade workshops; milk and diapers.
Today we continue to support these families to reverse their initial situation and we can affirm that three of them were successfully discharged, while another continues to receive periodic check-ups at the center. On the other hand, unfortunately, we must report that the fifth patient was unable to complete the program.
